e-Privacing plans to encourage the use of digital means in the educational system of EU countries while suggesting a holistic approach to the protection of personal data. The project’s main goal is to create a roadmap for GDPR compliant technological solutions in the field of digital education and at the same time, to train the users of these platforms and tools (educators / teachers / trainers / students) to respect the EU privacy legislation and avoid data breaches. The main scope of the project is not to identify the technological security gaps of existing tools, but to underline the importance of the human factor on the use of such applications.
HESO’s contribution to the project would be to share our knowledge on the development and use of online tools and applications for educational purposes and to describe the importance of online safety and digital literacy while using such technological solutions based on our past experience and current work. In terms of deliverables, HESO leads the instructional design process for the development of the e-Privacing Online Portal, a learning motivational environment which can be used by educators to learn about the very hot topic of e-privacy in order to enhance their understanding and nurture related skills when delivering lessons using online means. In addition, HESO will define components for the e-Privacing Roadmap towards data protection of minors in Cyprus as well in EU and will create educational content for teachers and students to enhance their understanding on e-Privacy.
