People take educational contents in different ways such as text-based, image-based or auditory. And they process this information in their own personal style and manner.
The project addresses the issue of image-based learning; its aim is the adjustment of the method “Fish in a box”, which is successfully used in England to support people with learning difficulties. The method takes into account individual skills and provides, by its image-based approach, an alternative to learning and structuring with written information. It helps the students to memorize an issue or to structure a task independently. A fundamental part of the method is the restraint of the trainer: the students find their own solutions based on their individual requirements and approaches. The trainer only has a supporting role.
During the two-year cooperation the concept will be transferred to the partner countries of Bulgaria, Lithuania, Netherlands and Germany. It will be adapted to the needs of the respective target groups, thereafter tested and implemented. The target groups of the project are people with learning difficulties, people affected by social exclusion, young people without apprenticeship as well as social workers and trainers, working with the mentioned target groups.
The testing and adaptation will be implemented in the partner countries in the following steps:
* Presentation of the original method in the own organisation and first testing with the respective target group and as the social workers or trainers
* Identification of interests and problems of the target group and social workers or trainers through interviews, surveys and focus groups
* Identification of potential use of the method in the own organisation
Afterwards a manual will be created including explanations of the adapted method and indications for its application. In the framework of train-the-trainer events the new method will be presented and explained to social workers and trainers. In a following testing phase the method will be used and tested with students. The results of the testing phase will be the basis for revision and finalisation of the manual. It will be available in all languages of partner countries, as well as in French language.
