IMAILE aims to meet the technological challenges facing European education head on!
It is the first project on a European level which addresses the area of ICT in the field of Education and e-learning from both the demand and the supply side. Enabling a dialogue between the demand and supply sides will allow research and innovation to focus on to the actual needs of the end–users (our European schools, teachers and students) equipping them with the tools they need to bring the classroom into the 21st century.
The city of Halmstad (Sweden) is coordinating the FP7 project IMAILE where public procurers of ICT in Education from 4 countries are using the PCP instrument (pre-commercial procurement) to stimulate user driven innovation in cooperation with European ICT industry, research and SMEs. Several ICT products, apps and services are available on the market supporting e- learning in the classrooms. But few of them are developed in a customized way supporting the implementation of creative learning and innovative teaching with the true pedagogical needs of our schools (end users) in Focus.
IMAILE will offer a solution to both demand and supply side within learning technologies. During the project implementation and using PCP instrument, technological solutions will be developed and assessed accordingly to the needs of the public procurers (demand side). While the suppliers will have the chance of obtaining funds to produce an innovative solution ready to be released to the market (just before commercialization Phase).
