SignOnOne

“SignOnOne”, a two-year Grundtvig project and follow-up to “SignOn!” (www.sign-on.eu), teaches Beginners’ English with sign language as language of instruction. This allows the deaf users to access the course directly (the written language of their country is often a first foreign language). The target group are deaf adults, who can use the course in class but also explore English on their own. “SignOnOne” will be freely accessible via the Internet homepage of the project without any log-in or download.
The ten lessons are developed in close cooperation with the deaf team members of each partner institution, guaranteeing a deaf perspective throughout the course. The core of each lesson is a written English text with translations of the single sentences, words and phrases into the national sign languages of the six partner countries. These are complemented by animations presenting the cognitive concepts contained within every sentence, signed grammar explanations and special videos which allow for lip-reading the English pronunciation.
