After a year of collaboration, practical activities and exchanges between various vocational education and training organisations across Europe, the Erasmus+ ShiftVET project is drawing to a close, leaving behind a legacy of experiences, resources and lessons designed to support vocational education and training, making it more innovative and practical.
ShiftVET was developed as a small-scale Erasmus+ cooperation project bringing together vocational education and training organisations from different countries. During the project, partners from Italy, Latvia and Spain worked to strengthen the link between vocational training, practical learning and the skills required in professional environments that are becoming increasingly digitalised and evolving.
A strong practical focus has been at the heart of the project. The outcomes have not been geared solely towards theoretical learning; rather, learners and teachers have been encouraged to explore new approaches through practical activities, the development of learner-led projects and the exchange of experiences amongst the participating organisations.
As part of this work, the consortium produced a number of resources documenting the methodologies tested during the project and offering guidance on their application in other vocational training contexts. These include practical examples and fact sheets, insights drawn from activities carried out with students, and an Implementation Guide summarising the project’s key lessons learnt and recommendations.
During the final phase of ShiftVET, the partner organisations organised three local dissemination and validation events. These events provided an opportunity to present the project’s results directly to students, teachers and other relevant stakeholders, whilst also enabling feedback to be gathered on the activities and resources developed.
The feedback gathered during these final activities has also contributed to the final refinement of the ShiftVET Implementation Guide. Rather than presenting a fixed model, the guide aims to provide other vocational training organisations with practical ideas and adaptable approaches that can be incorporated into their own activities.
Beyond the individual outcomes, one of the key lessons from ShiftVET has been the value of combining international cooperation with activities that can be put into practice. Even within the framework of a small-scale partnership, the project has demonstrated how cooperation between VET organisations can create opportunities for experimentation, peer learning and the exchange of teaching practices.
Now that ShiftVET is drawing to a close, the consortium’s priority is to make its results accessible beyond the organisations directly involved in the project. The project’s resources, practical experiences and final dissemination materials are designed to support teachers, trainers and VET organisations interested in adapting similar approaches to their own contexts.
